A new childcare service is open at Town Square, and it offers professional nannies that will watch your child so you can enjoy a little free time. Artsy Nannies boasts an onsite childcare agency where parents can hire nannies while they go to dinner, enjoy happy hour, watch a movie or shop. Artsy Nannies also delivers nannies direct to homes, hotels, conventions and more. Nannies come equipped with arts and crafts projects and games for children 12 months and older tailored to fit the child's age. For the little ones in diapers, parents will receive a report detailing diaper changes, nap times and feedings. Childcare is available for up to three hours per visit to Artsy Nannies, and there is a three hour minimum when a nanny goes to a home or hotel. Children six weeks to 17 years old are eligible for the childcare service. Once hired, nannies can take children to Town Square Park, Rave Motion Pictures, lunch or dinner or shop with them. The company is licensed, bonded and insured, and according to Vallee, completes background and reference checks on all its employees. In addition to its childcare service, Artsy Nannies sells educational toys, puzzles, children's books and more. There is also an area dedicated to handmade infant and children's items made by local artists. Artsy Nannies is located on North Main Street between Barefoot Don and Posaré Salon. Dress for Success 5K PowerWalk
Lend your support to women in need of professional clothing, resources and networking by participating in the first Dress for Success 5K PowerWalk at Town Square on June 2. Registration is at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the walk will go directly to improving the lives and careers of women in Las Vegas. Town Square's Capture the Moment photo contest might be over, but the winning photos have stolen the hearts of the more than 1,700 people who voted. Taking first place in the lifestyle category is Jaime D. who entered a colorful image of her daughter playing in the Children's Park. Andrea G.'s photo won in the architecture category, showcasing a bench as a focal point for relaxing after a day of activity. Both winners will receive a $500 gift card to Town Square. All photo contest entries were judged by a jurored panel on creativity, character and essence of how well the images "Capture the Moment" at Town Square. They were narrowed down to the top three in the categories of architecture and lifestyle and then voted on by visitors to mytownsquarelasvegas.com.
WHAT TO DO
Support Project Dog House
Bring your dog out to The Dog House on June 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and help support the Animal Foundation's fundraising event, Project Dog House. Dogs will enter a red carpet contest to compete for space in a 2013 non-profit calendar called In the Dog House. The pups will parade around Town Square and conclude their walk in front of judges who will pick the winners. Winners will be photographed for the calendar by renowned pet photographer Arica Dorff of Pet'ographique at a later date. The calendar will be sold at local area pet businesses and online. The cost to enter the contest is a $25 donation, which includes either a 5x7 or 8x10 portrait taken by Arica the day of the event as well as a Dog House bandana. Project Dog House will also include pet adoptions, a gift basket raffle, custom dog house raffle, red carpet pup-arazzi photos and live entertainment.
Go See Barefoot in the Park
SRO Productions, a new live theatre company in Las Vegas, is bringing Neil Simon's classic, Barefoot in the Park to Town Square this month. The timeless comedy opens June 8 and features the hilarious antics of newlyweds Paul and Corie Brater as they navigate the early days of building a home and life together despite their very opposite personalities. Written and produced in partnership with Samuel French Inc. of New York City, Barefoot in the Park is a three-act comedy relevant to anyone who has ever been in a romantic relationship. Performances of Barefoot in the Park will take place Friday June 8 and 15 at 8 p.m.; Saturday June 9 at 8 p.m.; Saturday June 16 at 8 p.m. and on Sunday June 17 at 2 p.m. The show will be held in the theater below Rave Motion Pictures and across from Yard House. Movies in the Square
Town Square's summer movie series returns to Town Square Park on June 7 with free entertainment for the whole family. Enjoy family friendly G & PG movies on a giant 25 ft. by 35 ft. screen. Come by on June 7 to see Mars Needs Moms and on June 14 for The Muppets. On June 21 enjoy Cars 2 and on June 28 bring the kids to see Puss in Boots. Movies in the Square premiers every Thursday through August 23. Admission is free, and seating is on a first come first serve basis. See a Family Movie at Rave
The summer movie season heats up at Rave Motion Pictures as the theater invites families to enjoy a list of free G or PG-rated films during its Family Film Festival. Movies will be shown every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. The free movies run from June 25 through August 23, and seating is on a first come first serve basis.
